Andrew Parker
BA (Hons) DipArch RIBA
Andrew fulfilled RIBA Part 1 and 2 with a degree and diploma in Architecture from Liverpool Polytechnic, following which he spent 12 months at MRA as Architectural Assistant. Andrew moved on to gain invaluable experience with another firm before returning to MRA in 1994 as Architect.
Working on projects such as Preston Crown Courts, Crow Wood Leisure Centre and Ferrari’s Country House over the years, it is a wonder Andrew has found time to be as well travelled as he is, to explore his great passion for the outdoors.
Joe Monks
BSc (Hons) Arch Tech
Joe has been with MRA since 2002, during which time he has completed studies at Bolton Institute and a Degree in Architectural Technology from the University of Bolton. Working as Architectural Technologist, Joe supports the firms 3 Senior Architects in a number of capacities, liaising directly with clients and the Local Authorities.
Joe is a keen sportsman, playing football, badminton and squash regularly and he follows his local football team avidly.
Michael Rayner
BArch RIBA
Michael is a highly qualified Architect, graduating from Liverpool University in 1970 with RIBA Part 2 and B.Arch and going on to qualify as Architect in 1972 with RIBA Part 3 Professional Practice. He set up Michael Rayner Associates in 1978 and wanted to ensure that local people have the benefit of the design skills of fully qualified Architects. At the same time Michael was also tutoring part-time at Manchester Polytechnic School of Architecture.
As well as Architecture, Michael also as a passion for sports - in particular dinghy sailing. It is through this that Michael has represented Great Britain in International Fireball events both in Great Britain and abroad.
Laura Cooper
Laura is an experienced administrator who joined Michael Rayner Associates in 2004. She graduated with a BA degree in English and History through the Open University in 2000 and has more recently been awarded a Certificate in Business Studies, again through the Open University. She intends to begin working towards a Masters Degree in the near future.
Outside of work she is a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists and has trained motorcyclists and drivers to pass their Advanced Test.
Karl Zaldats
BA (Hons) DipArch Dist RIBA
2007 saw Karl join Michael Rayner Associates for the second time. Karl’s first stint at Michael Rayner Associates followed a successful year’s working experience as part of his degree in 1982 which lead to his employment with the firm for a further 22 years. Following a brief interlude, Karl rejoined the firm in 2007 as Director / Shareholder, bringing with him a whole host of qualifications and experience. Karl prides himself in trying to produce CAD drawings that have a ‘human’ feel to them and are appropriate to the essence of the building. He also tutors part-time at UCLAN.
Karl lives with his wife in a barn conversion which he designed himself and which has been the subject of much media interest including numerous national press and television coverage and has even been used as a film set.
